The laser hair removal procedure takes about 15 to 60 minutes in most cases, depending on the size of the area to be treated. First, your medical provider will clean and disinfect the area to make sure that excess oil, dirt, and bacteria are removed. If the area to be treated is particularly sensitive, a numbing gel may be applied.
You will be provided special eyewear to protect your eyes from the laser. The head of the laser hair removal equipment is placed against your skin, where a beam of high-intensity light energy is focused on the targeted area. Although more or less painless, you may feel a slight stinging sensation when the light energy is absorbed by the skin.
At Olam Med Spa, we use the Spectrum 810-DIODE laser for our laser hair removal procedures. This comes with a large spot size and a built-in contact cooling, which helps in keeping your skin cool while the light energy is delivered to the targeted area. It also has a hertz rate of up to 10 pulses per second.
Small areas usually take approximately 15 to 20 minutes, while larger areas such as the chest area may take about 60 minutes or more.
